וְלֹא יִתְבּשָׁשׁוּ

“And they felt no shame.”

Bereishit 2:25

Before the sin, Adam and Eve did not see their bodies as a way to draw attention to themselves. The Torah describes this innocence: they felt no shame.

The Rebbe’s teaching presented in Daily Wisdom connects modesty with this inner outlook. Our strengths, our bodies and our talents are gifts from Hashem. They find their purpose when they serve the mission entrusted to us.

Modesty helps us stay true to that purpose. It teaches us to choose what we show, what we say and the intention behind our actions.

Today, use one of your talents to do good without seeking to be noticed. Let the value of the deed speak for itself.
